BMW's Individual program includes Frozen matte finishes — Frozen Black, Frozen Dark Grey, Frozen Brilliant White, Frozen Pure Grey — that cannot be repaired with standard polishing or touch-up products. Conventional machine polishing converts a matte Frozen surface to semi-gloss permanently, an irreversible error requiring full panel repainting. Standard gloss finishes use 3–5 layer multi-coat systems requiring spectrophotometer color reading.
BMW's design language requires panel gaps engineered to within fractions of a millimeter — any repair must restore that precision. M-series models add CFRP components — roof panels, trunk lids, structural bracing.
